Minimal
tooth preparation is required to cement the small wing onto
the back of the adjacent supporting tooth.
The example shown below shows a two winged Maryland bridge replacing
the missing central incisor.
The wings are also available in a fibre reinforced composite/
tooth coloured material, which offers more pleasing cosmetic
results.
What
is the advantage over the implant method?
The advantage of this method is clearly the fact that
only a little (if any) tooth preparation is needed, though
the resultant restoration is not as strong as the ‘conventional’
alternative.
